I still cannot believe I’m making this post. 2015 is falling away, leaving 2016 behind. Where does the time go? Seriously? Between working full-time, writing, taking care of my family and house, and reading I’m lucky I notice the days.
But it’s here, the end of year posting when everyone puts up their goals, plans, and wrapups. Actually, since I’m pre-writing this, it’s been here! So here is yet another ‘Goals‘ post.
So first off is my Goodreads Challenge. I always do a Challenge every year. Last year (2014) and this year (2015) are the first two years I’ve actively been keeping track of what and when I read things. Both years I’ve won my challenges. I started off with a reading goal of 100 books in 2014 and bumped it up to 170 half way through the year. I put a similar goal on this year, 110, and met it really early but didn’t bother bumping it up. Instead I’ll put my goal for 2016 at 150 books. That’s just shy of my current read number (161), giving me some wiggle room.
The next thing I want to do in 2016 is read a classic a month. I’ve been on a real kick with the classic lit lately and I really enjoy stretching my reading into those waters. I really want to finish the Sherlock Holmes mysteries and I want to try authors like Virginia Wolf and Charles Dickens.
Comics and Graphic Novels were something I was hugely into about two or three years ago. I read them constant, pouring money on them. They’re expensive! Being poor at the time this was foolish, but we live and learn. I do want to get back into these again though, slowly. I have a lot of single issues I enjoy and I have a list of trades I’m on the hunt for. More comics!
As far as this business goes, the blogging, I want to keep it up. I enjoy this scribble scrabble of thoughts even if I’m talking to a void I’m enjoying this. I want to keep my current pace, at least two to three posts a week. I’m kicking around the idea of making a Youtube channel. I have the name I want and I spend enough damn time over there… I’m just a chicken shit about these things.
Gaming posts are harder to do as they take more time. I want to keep up with those, possibly getting more out there. I know of at least three games my hubby and I will be acquiring before years end so I’ll hopefully have some Thoughts On posts coming up for those. Also my Warcraft Weekend columns will continue. With Legion coming there will changes and things to talk about. I am so excited about the Demon Hunter class I could scream.Â
There are some specific reading goals I have, as far as books I want to get to. Let’s go ahead and throw that list on here:
- Start and finish The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo
- Finish The Dark Tower series by Stephen King
- Finish The Raven Boys series by Maggie Stiefvater
- Read Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens
- Finish Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
- Read The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
- Start the Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson (again)
- Catch up on The Fallen Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes
- Finish Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
- Catch up on The October Daye Series by Seanan McGuire
- Acquire and read the shit out of Chaos Choreography (Incryptid #5) by Seanan McGuire
Watching me loose my shit over here. - Read more Brandon Mull
- Read more Brandon Sanderson
I could really make this list long. I’m going to stop now.
So here’s to a new year and new goals and new ways to fail SUCCEED!
