Tome Topple is a TBR created by Sam over at ThoughtsOnTomes on Youtube, and this is a two week read-a-thon with a focus on reading big books.
Not that I need an excuse to read big books, but I’ve been a bit bad about it lately. It’s satisfying to burn through a bunch of little books and make my Goodreads numbers jump up but it leaves my awesome chunky books that just want love alone on the shelves. SO! I decided to jump on this band wagon!
There 5 challenges, as below:
1. Read more than one tome (500+ pages)
2. Take a graphic novel break (doesn’t need to be over 500 pages!)
3. Read a tome that is part of a series
4. Read over 500 pages in one week
5. Read an adult novel
And the read-a-thon runs from June 2- June 19th.
So what am I reading!?
Otherland : City of Golden Shadow by Tad Williams – This series has been on my shelf so long I have the later books in hardback, acquired not long after publishing by my mother. I have heard amazing things about this so I’m pretty excited to actually try this one.
Star Wars : Kanan Volume 2 – This one isn’t actually in my grubby paws yet but it’s on it’s way (got the shipping notification from Amazon yesterday). I love Star Wars Rebels and Kanan is a great character, I can’t wait to pick back up with this graphic novel series.
Impulse by Ellen Hopkins – This is kind of a cheese read. Ellen Hopkins books are prose and read super, super quick for me. In fact I almost used this one as my sub for the Graphic Novel challenge since these are usually such a quick read.
Deep Fathom by James Rollins – I really enjoy James Rollins books just for pure escapism of them. However this one seems to take place under the ocean. Have I ever mentioned I’m thalassophobic? I’m sure it’ll be fine, psssh, nothing like reading a book about the depths of the sea to help me get over it right? Right?!
The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins – I’m already reading this bad boy on Audio so I thought I should throw this one in, since it’s quite a chunker. I have it in paperback and I’ll be bouncing between the two versions. Spooky Victorian mystery! Fun (no, really, Wilkie Collins is cracking me up)!
With all of these I think I have met all the challenges. Fingers crossed I’ll get at least one or two of these done! Is anyone else doing this one? What’re you reading?
