Would You Rather: Book Edition

Maryan from 1BookLife did this and it looked fun! So here we go!

Would you rather read only trilogies or read only standalones?

Standalones. I like series, in fact most of what I read is a series of some sort but that is by no means on purpose. Typically series get more publicity, get more hype and so those are the ones I hear about. However I love standalones so much. I have commitment issues and love a well contained single story.

Would you rather read male or female authors?

This question is a terrible question. On one hand it can be sexist, should we read one sex over the other? On the other hand female authors statistically get the shaft when it deals with publishing, publicity, etc especially in my genre of choice (fantasy & sci-fi) so shouldn’t we support them? I want to read more female authors in the way the big ole feminist in me is like ‘HELL YEAH LADY POWER’ but I also am not ashamed to admit I love so many male authors and their books and they as awesome people (I.E. Chuck Wendig is boss guys). So I think I’m not going to answer this question.

Would you rather shop at Barnes & Noble or Amazon?

I worked at a B&N once, I worked in the cafe. True story, I sort of hated it and them and their attitude (also still do). They do over charge for their items and books (this, we were told at orientation, was to weed out the lesser customers and attract those people that could afford to pay the overcharged prices). So, I get it. Amazon is shady as shit sometimes but there are also other evils. My shopping order is 1) Local bookstore 2) Books-a-Million 3) Amazon.

Would you rather books were made into TV shows or movies?

Queue the heaviest of sighs. I don’t watch TV, if I do watch anything it’s movies with the hubby who is a movie buff in the way I am a book nerd. That being said, most of what I read would work better as shows because of genre and how long they are. Especially series, I still haven’t watched all the Harry Potter movies because they just didn’t work for me. Sooo… TV I guess? If I had to pick?

Would you only read 5 pages a day or 5 books a week?

Is this a real question? Really?

Kiddingme

     5 books a week, obviously.

Would you rather be a librarian or a bookseller?

Librarian. I’ve been a bookseller (at a different store than B&N) and I didn’t enjoy it. You’d be surprised how many people do NOT want recommendations or care to hear your thoughts. I’m actually looking into pursuing my Masters in Library Science so Librarian please!

Would you rather read only your favorite genre or every other genre but your favorite?

My favorite. It’s called my favorite for a reason! Come on!

Would you only rather read ebooks or physical books?

Physical books have a unique magic to them that ebooks are missing for me. I love ebooks and if I find a book I want to read cheap enough (I don’t pay over 6 dollars for ebooks) I’ll get it. However if I like it I will ultimately turn around and buy it for myself in physical form. There are too many ways I could loose my digital books, way to many ways.
