OWLS Wrap-up or Blowing a TBR out of the Water

I knew when I made that TBR that I wasn’t going to be able to stick to it. I may have still managed to pass some classes though! Let’s take a look and see.

So my TBR as I recall posting it:

  • Dragon Heart
  • Wolf Hall
  • The Dinosaur Lords
  • Thrawn
  • A Land so Wild
  • Prophets of the Ghost Ants
  • Memories of Silk and Straw
  • Witcher Book 1
  • The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
  • Emergency Skin

Which on its face doesn’t look bad! But let’s see what I actually got read and how it matches the prompts:

  • Ancient Runes : Heart on the cover or in title
Nope – nothing matches, sad day
  • Arithmancy : Read something outside your favorite genre
Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid totally fits this one!
  • Astronomy : Read the majority of a book while it’s dark outside
Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid also works here as I stayed up late in the night hiding under my covers reading this (my newborn is in a bassinet next to the bed, I don’t want to wake her, don’t judge me!)
  • Care of Magical Creatures : Creature with a beak on the cover
       Another miss!
  • Charms : White Cover
Technically The Vagina Bible by Jennifer Gunter is almost entirely white – so a win here as well.
  • Defense Against the Dark Arts : Book set at the sea/coast
I don’t think I can stretch anything for this one
  • Divination : Assign numbers to your TBR and use a random number generator to pick one
Definitely didn’t get to that one
  • Herbology: Title starts with an M
         Miss again!
  • History of Magic : Features a witch or wizard
If Jedi count as Space Witches/Wizards then I read so many Star Wars comics. So. Many. Star. Wars. Comics.
  • Muggle Studies : Contemporary book
Undercover Bromance can be considered contemporary – though I disliked it immensely, I read it!
  • Potions : Book under 150 pages
I read the one I had picked for this! Emergency Skin by N.K. Jemison was great – totally recommend that one!
  • Transfiguration : Book/series that includes shapeshifting
This one was one of the first I finished and I was the most worried about it – pssshh, silly me. Silver Silence by Nalini Singh has an adorable bear shapeshifter as the male lead.

So I achieved some prompts and while I don’t know what exactly I qualify for now, if anything I’m please I at least got some of these done because I am super bad at TBRs.
