Mini-Reviews Vol 2!

Last week’s reviews from Goodreads! I feel like last week wasn’t as great a reading week as this week but not every week can be great.

TheDeadHouseThe Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich
☆☆☆☆

This was a subtle creep, half way through I was fine and at the end I was totally creeped out. Little girls are never not creepy guys. Mirrors also are never not creepy. It’s really hard to say anything about this book and not spoil it. I feel like even telling you the nature of the main character is a bit spoilery but you find out on the first or second page so… most of the book is told from Katilyn’s perspective but the problem is that Katilyn is the ‘Alter’ or constructed personality of Carly. Throw in a whole new witchy magic and you’ve got yourself a fun read.

Coffee: 14 Caffeinated Tales of the Fantastic edited by Alex Shvartsman
☆☆☆☆

Coffee and Fantasy stories? Who would have thought that would work?
Overall I enjoyed these! This was a random reward for backing another short story collection of Mr. Shvartsman and I’m really looking forward to picking it up now. If these are any indication to his taste we shall get along! There were a few that didn’t capture me but for the most part I enjoyed them. It was also a short collection, so a fast read.

Equal Rites by Terry Pratchett

I love Terry Pratchett. There isn’t much to say about that. This was my (re)introduction to Granny Weatherwax and I have to say she’s my favorite so far. I’m constantly surprised by how funny and so on point the Discworld novels are.
The characters are always enjoyable and no matter how over the top I still believe them. Especially inside of Discworld. If you aren’t over the top, you don’t fit in!

I’ll definitely be picking Mort up soon.
