The Fall is All There Is by C.M. Caplan

Source: Kindle Unlimited – Then purchased (thanks past Me!)
TL;DR: A distinct and fantastic voice on this one grabs and does not let go.

Plot: Quadruplet heirs to the throne and family things make it messy and so much fun.
Characters: I loved all the siblings in here, and genuinely felt strong things for almost all the characters. A great cast all around.
Setting: A Post-post-apocalyptic story with both science and magic and the science is so gross, it’s so good
Magic: The magic is basically super messed up body horror science – and that’s incredible

Thoughts:

This one was totally outside of what I was planning on reading this month but I’m thrilled I gave it a try. I picked it up while trapped (squeezed) in the backseat of a car with two kids, reading on my phone. This genuinely usually gives me the worst headache, I simply can’t read on that screen, however I read this for a solid hour and a half. Headache be damned, this was amazing.

The voice is strong, and really drags you along through the story. Petre and his siblings, all of whom I loved and was frustrated with in equal measure, brought this book such life and vibrancy. This really feels like the story of a messy family with messy goals and using Petre as the voice was such a fantastic move.

I cannot wait to see where this story goes, and will be picking up the rest of the series as soon as it’s available.

5 VERY unsettling Clockwork horses out of 5

PS. His mother is the worst. Oh my god.
